It’s wartime all the time

A NY Times story from last month, Hackers Lurking in Vents and Soda Machines, provides another data point on the changing nature of protecting your network from attackers.

“When you know you’re the target and you don’t know when, where or how an attack will take place, it’s wartime all the time,” Ms. Hallawell said. “And most organizations aren’t prepared for wartime.”

And if you have something valuable – money, credit card data, intellectual property, access to customer/partner networks – you are or will be a target.

It is a pretty good article pointing out that attackers use many vectors to get into your systems.
