Choose Your Voice

11 Aug 2026

Occasionally, I create video tutorials for software. Typically, I will record the screen video, then record me narrating it in Garage Band or Logic Pro, and then stitch the video and audio together in iMovie or Final Cut Pro.

Unfortunately, I don’t like my own voice in recordings.

Today, services like Eleven Labs let you shift your voice to a different voice. It is still your own voice performance… it just sounds different.

For example, I tried replacing my voice with characters from the US deep south and from England. Their accents completely disappear because the accents are part of the voice performance. So, you cannot give yourself a British accent.

Below are four videos:

  • A 40-second sample with transitions between voices

  • Full 2:27 minute video tutorial with my original voice

  • Full video tutorial with the male replacement voice

  • Full video tutorial with the female replacement voice

The tutorial is for the Ennetix xTend observability sensor for the Mac.
