A New Apple Vision Headset?
18 Aug 2026
Several things are coming to a head suggesting, just maybe..., there is a new Apple Vision headset on the way.
N109 model
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has reported multiple times, beginning in 2024, that a future Apple Vision headset model was N109.
Yesterday, Apple macOS code included a reference to a model N109.
Following the N109 code leak, Sadly It's Bradly found the reference in a private framework for devices using LiDAR (which the current Vision Pro uses), but the code is for a newer “Peridot” sensor that the M2/M5 headsets do not have.
Black headset rumors
Meanwhile, there has been increasing rumors a black Apple Vision headset coming. These rumors include pictures of parts (see below).
MLB for Apple Vision Pro and the big Apple event
Last week week, Apple announced 4 Major League Baseball games will be shown in Apple Immersive Video for the Vision Pro.
And just coincidentally, in the middle of the 4 game schedule, Apple is expected to have its big September event announcing new iPhones and other devices.
It seems that in the middle of the MLB Apple Immersive Video schedule would be a good time to announce a new Apple Vision headset.

How Apple Plans to Turn the Vision Pro Into a Multiproduct Business
June 23, 2024, Bloomberg
It’s less of a priority, but Apple also is still working on a second-generation version of the Vision Pro. That model is called the N109 internally. It looks much like the current model but includes a faster processor and improvements to external cameras. Apple has also looked at ways to make the second version lighter and more comfortable.
The company has no plans to abandon the high end of the headset market, but this second-generation Vision Pro will take longer to arrive. Months ago, the company shifted a planned 2025 release to the end of 2026 at the earliest, as I reported in April.

I dove deeper into the N109 reference
It’s only in a single Private Framework file reserved for Apple Devices with integrated LiDAR sensors
It has the newer “Peridot” sensor, aka Sony IMX591, that started shipping in iPhone 15 Pro and later
M2/M5 Vision Pros use the older one
